Update for Internet Explorer 8 Compatibility View List for Windows XP (KB2447568)

This update helps make websites designed for older browsers look better in Internet Explorer 8. To take advantage of this update, you must have “Include updated website lists from Microsoft” selected in Internet Explorer’s Compatibility View Settings.

  1. both my husband and I just downloaded this update KB2447568 (separate pcs), he installed, I did not. Since downloading we both opened Explorer and then our desktop icons stopped working. We can initiate programs from the Start menu but not desktop. Are others having this problem, how to correct. Have tried uninstall and restart pc. Help.

  2. I just today have had the same problem with Windows 7. It was before installing KB2447568. I was having a sudden problem of IE 8 locking up. This was the update that was recommended to correct lock ups. I wanted to read more about this updaate and found your post. I will now test to see if it worked.

  3. i had same problem,but norton update caused the problem and then made a correction and sent thru a new update 11/24/10 which seemed to fix this.but i have to do a system restore .and after that was when i found out the fix was from norton.

    Had the same exact problem as you had. The problem can be fixed by resetting advanced interent properties in internet explorer to default.

  5. Had exactly the same problem. Dis-installed it, problem solved. You need to go into control panel/windows updates and find this and uninstall it from there. Then hide the update and never, ever install it again!

The update from windows as critical update, this KB2447568 cause a lot of problems in my PC and I figured it out after happenned again, I did a hard-reboot, select safe mode, all programs,, accesories, system tools, system restore and of course choose a date before that and you can resolve it. Norton comes in play also, you need to re-installed it
