Check for disabled SQL Server instances, change to manual and run the patch again.

I’ve had this problem for months too. First with the Security Update for SQL Server 2005 SP3, but now it has changed to SP2… strange. Both never install. It’s really getting on my nerves!

I guess Microsoft does not care about this one. Nor do they view this site. I have had this problem for months, and I can’t get rid of the udpate. Every day, I have to cancel the update, because this is the only thing in there. When I try to let it proceed, it fails.

Does anyone know how to get this out of my updates list?

Same for me. SP3 failed about 10-15 times, so stopped it from showing up. Now it prompts me to install Security Update for SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 (KB960089).
When I try to that fails as well. Anyone???

my computer keeps prompting me to install Security Update for 2005 Server Pack 2 KB 960089, everytime I do it fails, Also another update KB 955706 Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Server Pack 3 also evrytime I try to install it doesn’t let me. I have Windows Live One Care . it states computer is fair due to these problwms having above.

Anyone know why? I have an XP Pro 2002 with SP 3 and updates usually proceed without an issue.
